Overview: UAS applications are growing worldwide, beyond military uses to homeland security, border protection, crowd control, disaster relief, as well as commercial applications. To move operations into the NAS on a routine basis, technical issues, as well as policy and operational issues, must be addressed.  One of the biggest challenges is the ability of the UAS to avoid collision with manned aircraft.
